Meet Your Counselors
Ami Peterson
MA, LPC, Certified CCPT
Hi, I’m Ami, a licensed professional counselor with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in working with children, teens, and adults to support emotional growth, healing, and connection.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Idaho State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Boise State University. I completed my professional credential in Child-Centered Play Therapy through the University of North Texas and have advanced training in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. In addition to individual counseling, I regularly lead parenting classes designed to help families strengthen their relationships and deepen emotional connection.

Before opening my private practice, I worked as an elementary and early childhood school counselor in the Nampa School District. During those years, I developed a passion for helping children overcome challenges related to anxiety, emotional regulation, friendship struggles, and family transitions—all through the healing language of play.
​
Today, I offer therapy services for young children using play therapy, and for teens and adults using a person-centered approach that incorporates IFS, mindfulness, and emotional processing. Whether I’m supporting a young child who communicates through play, or an adult exploring their internal system of parts, my goal is to create a space that is safe, respectful, and empowering.

I believe the relationship is the most important part of the counseling process. I meet each client with warmth, curiosity, and compassion—creating a space where growth, healing, and insight can unfold at their own pace.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our three children, and our two dogs. As a family, we love traveling, hiking, camping, and CrossFit.​​

Marly Harris

There are times in life when parents feel lost and overwhelmed with knowing how to help their children gain self-regulation, resilience, and self-esteem. Children are one of life’s most precious gifts and we long for them to be successful. I believe each child/adolescent has the innate capacity for self-discovery and growth and I would be honored to work with you and your family.

I am a licensed professional counselor with over 6 years of experience in the mental health field. I am trained in Child Centered Play therapy and working towards certification. I am also trained in Child Parent Relationship Therapy and work with families to further strengthen their relationships. I accept clients ages 3-14.

In addition to my counseling practice, I have been a School Counselor in the Nampa School District for 6 years. While in this role, I help children and families overcome challenges with family, friendships, school, anxiety, and other general issues. My experience as a School Counselor has provided me with insight and skills to help families advocate for their child’s educational needs.

I believe the relationship is the most important part of the counseling process. It is my goal to provide an environment that allows each client to feel safe, seen and understood. I specialize in Child Centered Play Therapy to provide children the opportunity to work through their struggles in a developmentally appropriate counseling process.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family, and friends. We enjoy exploring the mountains, exercising, playing, Legos, and puzzles.​
